30 January 2013

Wow I am so proud of myself this is my 4th post!

Can't believe it and I have a few more drafted.  I am sure no one is reading this blog as I am to scared to tell anyone about my blog. Would anyone even find me interesting? There are so many wonderful quilting related blogs out there, will I be able to bring anything to the table to bring people back for a visit.  I have no idea but I am going to try and see what comes of it.

Well enough of my worries, lets get on with the sewing...

I have joined a couple Sew-A-Longs to get the year moving in the right direction.

The first one is held by Caroline over at Sew Can She is hosting a Sew-A-Long using the Herringbone Block tutorial by Bijor Lovely.  This has been so much fun to participate in.  I have managed to completely finish, a 47"x49" wall hanging using Moda Arcadia Fabric.  Caroline even wanted to see what we used the scraps for so I came up with a small table quilt (11"x 18") for a side table in my living room.  I love how they both turned out.

Melissa Corey over at Happy Quilting is hosting a Quilt-A-Long (QAL) for her pattern Starburst pattern.  This QAL is from January to beginning of March.  I have decided to do the 40" block for another wall hanging.

My fabric selection is:

  • Madrona Road Straw Wild Carrot by Violet Craft (center of the star)
  • Herringbone in Lake from the Modern Meadow Collection by Joel Dewberry
  • Bella Warm Gray Mini Dots by Lotta Jansdotter
  • Kona Snow

Last weeks assignment was to complete the Goose in the Corner and the Half Square Triangles, check.  This weeks assignment was no waste Flying Geese, as I have never made Flying Geese before but it was very easy and turned out nicely.  I can see more of these in my future.

I really feel like I am already on a roll for 2013 with my sewing finishes.
