Retro Rubies QAL

I joined the Retro Rubies Quilt Along hosted by Alyssa Lichner with Pile O' Fabric, she also designed the pattern.  When I saw this pattern I knew I had to use vintage sheets and Kona Solids,  it is the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it.

I chose six sheets from my little collection and coordinated them with two different shades of Kona each: Lemon, Sunflower, Pomegranate, Azalea, Baby Blue and Alegria.

The background will be Kona Snow.  The vintage sheet in the back ground will be the back of the quilt,  it ties all the fabric together nicely I think.

I decided to make a practice block before I started cutting in to my other fabric and I really love how it turned out.

Now I need to get cutting!  I decided this will be a gift for my mom's birthday at the end of June, plenty of time. Right?  I hope so.  I am thinking of doing this as a quilt as I go just so I will be able to do a bit more then straight lines.

Thank you for stopping by, have a great day.

  1. This is a very interesting design. Curves make such a difference to plain squares and rectangles! Thank you for linking in, Abby.
