Forest Quilt-A-Long Block 10

Finished off another block for the Forest QAL, block 10, the Squirrel.  This block was designed by Amy over at During Quiet Time.

I still have two more blocks to complete for this QAL and have till 1st August to complete something with the blocks so I can be included in the linkup.  Not sure at this point if that is going to be possible.  I have really over committed myself with it being summer and all.

I will see what I can mange to get done.

Thanks for stopping by.

Slow

This past week has been a bit crazy with end of school activities and three Little League baseball games in three days.  Happy to report my tote bags were a big hit with the teachers.

I have managed to get some cutting time in so I will be able to pop into my sewing room when I have a chance.  I cut all the inner and outer curves for the Retro Rubies QAL. I have to make 20 blocks to make a queen size.

I love the piles at least it looks like I have been doing something.  I even managed to get started sewing the curves they are now ready for pressing.

I finished all the squares for my SuperNova quilt that I started way back in January.  It is now stacked in a pile next to the sewing machine so I can start sewing the rows together.

I am really behind in everything but hope to be able to catch up soon, not to mention I have joined a few more QAL's that start this month.

Thank you for stopping by.

End of Year Teachers Gifts and another Quilt Along Joined

I had a very productive day yesterday and made three totes.  My totes are roughly based on the tutorial I found over at Skip to my Lou, as I had trouble figuring out if the lining went on the inside or outside to sew them together.

I only meant to make two; one for each of the teachers for a little end of year gift to say thank you for all their time and hard work.  But one of the totes I had to piece my handles as they were just to short and decided I could not give that as a gift so I guess I scored a tote for myself (a first).

I worked totally from my stash on these and am really happy with how they turned out, hope the teachers like them.  I did not follow a pattern but did check out this tutorial (link)  to make sure I put the lining and outer fabric together properly so it would all work out,  really hate unpicking.

For the Second Grade Teacher will be getting one made with HS Butterfly Effect Twill lined with vintage sheet.  Measures 19"x16"x6".

For the Fourth Grade Teacher I made hers with some Dwell Studios for Robert Allen. It is lined with Typewriter keys by Colorbok for Joann Fabric.  It measures 19"x16"x6".

This one did not pass my gift giving criteria since I had to piece the handles to make them long enough and I am not 100% happy with how they look so I will be keeping it for myself.  This one is made with Premier Prints Small Dandelion Twill and lined with a vintage sheet.  Measures 17 1/2x14 1/2x6.

I also have joined another Quilt Along, I think now I might officially have way to many projects going on but I will find a way to complete all on time.  I joined Impromptu Along hosted by Katy Jones at Monkey Do.  The pattern is by Rachel Griffith over at P.S. I Quilt.  You could join along too, the pattern is available here

I picked out a layer cake of Hoopla by Moda that has been sitting on my shelf for a few years and some Kona White for this project. It should be a very cheerful summery quilt.

Fresh Sewing Day and Small Blog Meet Up

Lily over at Lily's Quilts is having a link party for blogs with less then 50 followers.  I have one so far so a few more won't hurt :)  I have never joined one of these link ups before so I am not sure if my blog is even something someone would want to follow.

I try to challenge myself and learn new things.  This year I am learning foundation paper piecing and have joined several BOM's to improve my skills.  I am addicted to joining BOM's and QAL's, I can't seem to help myself,  I love seeing what everyone is making.

Well May is coming to an end, really were does time go this month really has flown by.  This month I managed to get 8 stars done for the Dancing Stars QAL hosted by Amy at Amy's Creative Side.  I think I will start figuring out a game plan for this quilt so I can see how many more stars I need to make.
