Skill Builder Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) of Pixelate and Phoenix

This week I worked on some Free Motion Quilting (FMQ). This is a bit of a process for me as I don't like to rush into quilting things, I like to have some what of a plan.  I start by printing out copies of my finished blocks and draw on the paper to try and figure out what I am going to do.  Now once I start quilting these does not mean that I don't change my mind but it does help me get started.

Here is the Pixelate block from Skill Builders BOM:

Here is the finished block Phoenix from the Skill Builder BOM:

I also finished up a little wallhanging for my studio.  This block is my sample that I stitched up before I made the test quilt of Hemispheres. It is 16 1/2 square.

This is the first quilt that I actually machine sewed the binding down.  It is ok but I don't like the look on the back so I wont be doing on anything that is not going to hang on the wall.

Thank you for stopping by.

  1. I use clear vinyl to lay over and draw on, buy at WalMart, Joann's and etc. If I like it I take a digital photo for reference. Love your work.
