Blogger's Quilt Festival Spring 2014 - Entry 2

I was not going to enter a second quilt into the Blogger's Quilt Festival over at Amy's Creative Side but I really do love my Star Light Star Bright Quilt that I finished up back in March.  It is large coming in at 93 x 93 and very warm.

I made this during the quilt along over at Happy Quilting Host by Melissa.  I have quilted along with all of your QAL in the past couple years.  This year I really wanted to make mine stand out and put my spin on it.  I made two different size blocks and am really happy with the end layout.

I quilted this on my Juki TL2200QVP longarm quilting machine and carried the quilting throughout the whole quilt.  Imposing the star into the navy was a bit tricky as I did not do any marking before loading it on the frame.  But I think I matched up the start/stops nicely.  The filler in the navy is over lapping squares done with Rock Navy Glide Thread.  I also quilted random light blue squares in the navy but it is hard to see in the picture.  Here are some close ups of the quilting.

All the fabric is from my stash except I did have to buy some more Kona Navy but I still feel like it was mostly from my stash.  I used Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20 batting for this quilt, first time using this batting.  It is backed with flannel for extra warmth.

I am entering this into the Large Quilt Category and I see there are already so many lovely quilting in this category.   Be sure to go check out all the eye candy of the Blogger's Quilt Festival there are 11 categories of quilts.  Voting will start next Friday the 23rd, be sure to go and vote for your favorite in each categories.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

Cheers,
Abby
