Watkins Star - Pattern Tested

Middle of July already?  This has to be the fasting moving summer that I have had in a long time.  Still not accomplishing much but hope to really pick it up and catch up on all my projects by end of month.  I am optimistic.  :) I had my Dancing Stars quilt loaded up on frame and my wheels decided to not play nice. So my machine is tore apart and waiting on a tech to get back to me to let me know how they can fix it.  Totally stressing me out as I have so many things to finish up before our big move.

I did manage to test a pattern for Amy over at Sew Incredibly Crazy.  Amy's pattern is called Watkins Star great for beginners and went together really quickly.  I used Kona Ash for the background and it is hard to tell but the areas that look white are actually white with tiny grey polka dots from the Riley Blake Willow Fabric line.  I fussy cut the trees for he center blocks which come from Michael Millers Backyard Baby.  I used Kona Indigo to frame the trees, I am still not sure about this choice but it does look better in person and I think once I finish it off it will be good.  I plan on using Kona Indigo for he binding and I am sure that will help greatly tie it all together.  The rest of the fabric was from my stash but I forgot to note the names.

Once my machine is up and running again I will quilt this one up and hopefully have it on my Etsy shop for sale before to long.

The pattern is available over on Amy's Crafsty Shop if you are interested.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

  1. It turned out beautifully - love the mix of backgrounds and the boxy shapes defining the stars!
