Round Robin - Kathy's Quilt

I did some sewing this week!  Shocking I know. :)  I did test a pattern for Hunter Designs last week but I can't share till after Quilt Market in October.  Here is a tiny peek ;)  Darn.

I can show you my addition to Kathy's quilt for the Round Robin I am participating in.  Once again I was totally over thinking the add (like the other 3 I have added too) and getting totally stressed out.  I put a picture out on my Instagram feed and my friend suggested to remove a few of the drunkard blocks (I had a lot of them to begin with) and it really helped me move on with the project.

I think some times you just have to put it out in the world and see if other eyes can help you.  So this went in the mail to the next in line so I won't misplace it with the craziness around here.

This week I also cut out the pieces for the three blocks that I am behind on for the Globetrotter BOM but cutting and laying out is as far as I got.  Hopefully this weekend I will be able to find some time to get them pieced so I can share next week.

I would of had them done this week but my husband was showing me canvas briefcases that he liked but did not really like the $100+ price tag.  I really think I must love him as I said "Oh I am sure I could make you one of those for way less."  I could not find a pattern anywhere just my luck.  Not sure what I was thinking since I have not made many bags and nothing without a pattern.    Here is a peek at what I have come up with so far in one day.

I am kind of proud of myself for being able to work this project out all on my own.  Can't wait to share once I finish it up.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

Dancing Stars - A Finish

I don't have much to share this week but I did finally finish attaching the binding on my Dancing Stars quilt.  It has been quilted since the end of July but I was on a deadline to get a birthday gift done it got set to the side.  Then we moved and that pushed it to the side once again.  This one finished in at 45" x 68".

I quilted straight lines in each of the squares but alternated the direction for each square to add some interest to the background.  I also echoed around the stars.   I used a multi colored stripe fabric for the binding.

This also happens to be one of my goals for third quarter Finish Along and the only one that I will have done this quarter.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

A Lovely Year of Finishes - September Goal

With our up coming trip I decided this months goal for a lovely year of finishes would be to make a messenger bag for one of the boys.  I plan on making them both one but for this month I will set my goal to make one bag.  I am going to use Katy @The Littlest Thistle tutorial for her Mosaic Tiles Messenger Bag that can be found here.  I will be making one change and won't be using the mosaic tiles block for he front but something of my own creation.

Here is the fabric my son selected for his bag.  I think I will have to make a trip to the LQS to get some red sketch to add to the mix for the main part of the bag.

He says the giraffes have to be wearing mustaches.  So I see some appliqué in my future.

Hoping everyone has a productive month.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

Round Robin - Joy's Quilt

With the arrival of school I have been able to start catching up on my projects.  I have to admit it is very slow going but I am getting things done.   First project I pulled was Joy's quilt from the round robin that I am in.  This one I have been sitting on for many weeks as I was not sure what to add.

I think the dark green was really throwing me off.  My cousins came up for a visit and saw the quilt on my design wall and suggested I transition from the green to the white slowly.  I used a Denyse Schmidt print to put a boarder around the darker green and then used a multi color fabric for scattered diamonds.

I do hope Joy likes my addition and it is now on its way to the next person to add their creativity.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.
